Pasadena Buddhist Women's Association (BWA) The Pasadena BWA (PBWA) is a service group which provides assistance to the Sangha of this temple and also to other organizations. We earn funds to provide financial support for the Pasadena Buddhist Temple, Dharma School and youth groups, as well as the Buddhist Churches of America and other organizations. Some of our own fundraisers include our Cookbooks, our Father's Day Chirashi Sushi Sale, restaurant fund-raisers (eating out at Marie Callendar's, Souplantation and California Pizza Kitchen) and Culinary Classes. We provide volunteers to help with Temple fundraisers such as Obon, Sukiyaki Dinner, Fall Dinner, and Chicken Teriyaki Take-out. Twice-yearly we clean the temple altar adornments. In addition, we plan activities for the enjoyment, education and social fulfillment of our members. We also participate in the Southern District Buddhist Women's League and Federation of Buddhist Womens' Association. We meet monthly at the Temple (check Temple calendar for exact dates).
Anyone can join as a member, Membership fee is $25 per year. Application found on Membership page. |

World Buddhist Womens' Conference
August 30-Sept 1, 2019
We had 13 representatives from the Pasadena Buddhist Temple at the World Conference. We all had a chance to meet many BWA members from around the world.....and shop.....and be tourists! For many of us, this trip began at 5:30 AM in the Nishi parking lot boarding a bus to San Francisco....with a lunch stop in Santa Nella.
Great bus ride with women from Nishi, Gardena, San Fernando, Venice and WLA. |
I took this video of the Gomonshu entering the banquet. I had a great seat. I only gave a high five to Rev. Umezu...didn't give one to the Gomonshu, but did think about it.
