Pasadena Buddhist Temple awarded a Keiro Grant for 2023-2024
The Pasadena Buddhist Temple was recently awarded a grant from Keiro for the upcoming year. The Pasadena Buddhist Temple's organizations will be enhancing the quality of life of older adults and/or caregivers by "Meals, Movement' and Meetings II" project. They will continue the "Super Senior" deliveries, support PNS members by providing meals for their monthly lunches and continue the socializing/movement activities like Origami with Lisa, Pickleball, Walking/Talking and Tai Chi. We are working on adding Maj Jong and Hanafuda classes, based on an informal survey of sangha seniors.
We hope you will be able to participate in these activities or the many other offerings by Keiro online and in person.

Pasadena Buddhist Temple Awarded
Keiro Grant for 2021
Pasadena Buddhist Temple was awarded a grant from Keiro to support our Dharma School and BWA in their ongoing programs to provide support and maintain contact with the seniors of our sangha and community. Due to the pandemic fundraisers have been eliminated for these two groups. Thanks to Keiro's Grant Program the BWA will provide a lunch purchased from a local restaurant for a Pasadena Nikkei Senior lunch and the Dharma School will continue and expand their Senior Care Package program it had initiated last year.
The Pasadena Buddhist Temple is grateful to the Keiro Grants Program for providing this opportunity to support our programs. We know that the seniors we "touch" will be able to feel the compassion of our projects.

2016 Pasadena Buddhist Temple receives KEIRO grant! The Pasadena Buddhist Temple was one of 44 recipients of Keiro’s Inaugural Grants Program and one of only 4 major grantees. This new grants program is a key component of Keiro’s new outreach strategy created to assist and support organizations that impact the quality of life for older Japanese Americans. Other temples to receive grants included Senshin, Oxnard, Orange County, Gardena, and Nishi Honwanji. The PBT Grant Committee led by Shelley Shinmoto submitted a proposal back in November 2016 requesting a grant to help fund a remodel of our restrooms in Sakai Hall (gym) in order to make them ADA compliant and accessible to our many senior members and visitors. With over half of our membership over the age of 65, accessibility to user friendly rest rooms should not be a deterrent to attending and participating in the many religious, cultural, educational, and social events that our Temple hosts. We are thrilled to be the recipient of this grant and profoundly grateful to Keiro for awarding us with this most generous gift. We have established a committee to oversee the design and construction of the rest rooms and work will begin soon as we have less than 12 months to complete this project.
