Taiko or "Drum" is one of the most popular of Japanese musical instruments. In America, drums and drumming became especially popular in the early seventies,; since then, it has become an integral part of many Japanese groups and communities. The end goal of Taiko is to simply drum, without any attached thoughts cluttering one's mind. In this sense, it is the Buddhist ideal of non-ego in everyday action. (Rev. Unno)
